I have had some crazy-awesome shifts going on in my life lately.
One of these awesome shifts is signing up at Fiverr.com and posting gigs--and I've already gotten five orders already. I know it doesn't sound like a whole lot, but I'm sensing that my time as someone who works for a "regular" boss is pretty much done. I've been knocking on the usual doors, but nothing's come of it.
Let's just say I'm being guided to doing the spiritual entrepreneur thing.
*****WARNING! AUTHENTICITY ALERT!*****
I geek spirituality very hard. So you might hear me use certain words and phrases that might make certain people feel uncomfortable. If the spiritual stuff I sometimes will say makes you so uncomfortable you don't want to read my blog anymore, I can't make you stay.
Bear in mind the following, however: "Star Wars," a "geek's geek" kind of movie, has some seriously spiritual overtones to it. I mean, come on. What is "The Force" and Jediism but a thinly veiled version of Taoism and Zen Buddhism with a little--okay, a LOT of--telekinesis and intuitive ability in the mix?
So, what's that got to do with this new blog?
I realized that because I want to have as many orders on Fiverr as I can possibly handle without stressing out, trying to keep up on two geek blogs was going to be too time-consuming, to say nothing of redundant. So I decided just the other day that I was going to take the old "Once and Future Geek" and "Of Grails, TARDISes and Towels" blogs and combine them into one single geek-out blog. Much like two galaxies colliding to make one new big galaxy.
And since galaxies are normally pretty freaking huge, they contain all manner of possible forms of creation. So, too, is the general "geek universe," full of ALL things one can geek: Sci-fi/Fantasy, actual science, the arts, creative writing, philosophy, and yes, video games, table-top games, and whatever else makes your geek heart pound with excitement.
Sadly, I have never been to any of the uber-geeky conventions, but one day, I will. Especially DragonCon, a geek-out so humongous it includes both sci-fi AND fantasy cosplayers. A friend of mine that's been there as an artist-vendor told me she saw several people dressed as either the 10th or 11th Doctors. Major geek-squee on my end!
This was just an initial post before I get to the fun task of changing the background, images, fonts, etc.
Of course, seeing as I have not been to bed yet, all that will have to wait till later. I might just go ahead and change the background and the header image, but that's about it. The rest of the fiddly bits, including setting up AdSense, will have to take a number and wait till I get some much-needed shuteye.
Especially since I have to check up on Fiverr things and respond to those first.
Busy times, but I'm the one creating the busy-ness, so it's all good!
Peace & Geekery,
Kat ^.^
